Community Updates

As we wrap up the year we are reflecting back on our program, and would love to hear from the community as to what works and where we could do better. Please take a moment to complete this SURVEY to help us gather information from the parent perspective.

Calendar Change:

We are adjusting our 26/27 Spring Break week back to align with BCS since Asheville City has also adjusted. Now the Spring Break dates are March 22 -26 2027. See the updated calendar on our calendar page.

Circle of Security:

There is a great resource for families through Buncombe County Partnership for Children that we would love to encourage you to explore! They offer Circle of Security education (social/emotional wellness for parents and children), information about Vouchers, and links to different programs.

Check out their website!

MLC Special Events:

End of Year Celebration:

Join us Friday June 5 for the End of Year Celebration at our East campus! This is our last hurrah for the year and we cant wait to have everyone together to party! There will be water activities for the kids so make sure to bring a swimsuit and towel. Also the Frios Gourmet Popscicle truck will be back with popscicles for purchase.

Graduation/Moving Up Ceremony:

Each campus will have their own graduation ceremonies that Directors will send out information for. We are so proud of the students growth through this year and look forward to recognizing their hard work!

West Farewell Picnic:

June 4th at 5:30 after our moving up ceremony, we will be gathering together to hug the necks of our neighbors of Malvern Hills and say goodbye to our school and our beloved Malvern Hills Park. Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner for your family and let’s just have a great time together during these last few moments.

Teacher Spotlight

Lindsay is our Lead Guide of the Raccoons class at West. Lindsay joined MLC in 2023, first at our East location then she made the switch West. She is the Professional Development queen and is always finding trainings to expand her knowledge and deepen her practice. This year she took the Teacher Fellowship with Buncombe County Partnership for Children and completed her Circle of Security training which have both translated so beautifully to her work in the toddler classroom. We can’t wait to see her dive in to individualized student support next year at our East campus!

AJ is the Lead Guide in the Black Bears classroom at West. AJ joined us this school year and jumped right in! She is always finding opportunities to have expansive conversations with her students where they deep dive into topics. She also provides lots of opportunities to get creative and have fun! Students really loved the nail painting work that was introduced recently and they always look forward to class dance parties 🙂 We are so grateful that AJ has become a part of the MLC family!
