Upcoming Events

Monday January 19th - CLOSED Martin
Luther King Jr Day

MLC SPECIAL EVENTS:

Looking ahead, our next big event will be a Fun Run and Block Party sometime in the spring (tentatively Saturday April 18th). We would love some parent volunteers to help us coordinate this! If you have experience
helping out with run events or just have the mind to help us put something
together, please reach out to Sarah outreach@mlcasheville.org

We are also looking for folks who would be interested in joining the MLC board and fundraising committee. We’re excited at the prospect of collaborating with parents more on these projects!

Community Updates

Remember to fill out your 26/27 Re-enrollment form and the Summer Lottery Application both due by Friday January 16th .

Kindergarten enrollment has opened so make sure you are filling out those applications! We plan on accomodating all children who turn 5 after August
31st 2026 at MLC and under special circumstances may be able to fit in students who need a Kindergarten year with us, but otherwise expect the rising Kindergarteners to go on to their next adventure! Let us know if you need any recommendations for schools to look into :)

The NC Opportunity Scholarship for 26/27 is opening February 2nd. This is an application for folks who are looking at enrolling in a Private Kindergarten and would like some grant money to help offset the cost. Read more here.

Teacher Spotlights

Sophia is the new Lead Guide of the Caterpillars toddler classroom at the East
campus!

Sophia joined us in the summer of 2025 and has been such a joy to have at MLC! She always jumps in wherever she’s needed and always has a joyful, kind, and patient aura about her. She is always there to give a cuddle or helping hand.
She is beginning EDU 119 this semester to continue her education towards an early childhood credential. Sophia is such a gift to our toddlers and we are so appreciative of her!

Sarah Roosa-Collins is the Lead Guide of the Monarchs primary classroom at East. She has been with MLC since 2021 and came to us with over 20 years of teaching experience! She completed her AMS Montessori Credential in 2003 and has been at several different Montessori schools in her career which shows in her deep understanding of the pedagogy. She is someone who shares her wealth of knowledge with us as we constantly evaluate our practice and alignment. She provides an environment of encouragement and support to all.
