Our Amazing Teachers
"Now, what really makes a teacher is love for the human child; for it is love that transforms the social duty of the educator into the higher consciousness of a mission." - Maria Montessori
Caitlin Thomas-Director/ 2-4 year olds
Hello all! This marks my 9th year teaching at MLC, my how time flies! I live in Weaverville near the parkway with my partner Kurt and his 9 year old son Rowan. Along with our two dogs, cat, and a couple chickens, we are often joined by deer, turkeys and bears. I graduated from UNC-A with a BA in Ceramic Art while continuing my study of early childhood education and administration. I am also working towards finishing my Primary Montessori Teaching Certification and MA of Montessori Education. Outside of the school, I enjoy mountain biking, exploring the forest, cooking and eating good food, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Juliana Russo- Toddler Room and Aftercare
Hi MLC families! My name is Juliana Russo, and I just moved to Asheville this summer from New York. Although I grew up in a small beach town, I spent the last year teaching Kindergarten in Brooklyn. I found my passion working with young children during my time as an Au Pair in Munich, Germany. While there I studied German and had the opportunity to explore many different countries. Along with my love for children, I love cooking, photography, gardening and traveling. I will be working as an Assistant Teacher with the toddler class this year, as well the After Care program. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children this school year!
Tereasa Hudson- Afterschool
I've been living in Asheville for 15 years now. I grew up in Boone, NC and attended App State for two years before transferring to UNCA. I acquired my degree in 2006 and became a mom to my first daughter, Kayla, in 2008. My husband, Bob, and I have been running a decorative concrete business since 2008 as well. Two years ago we welcomed our second daughter, Madison, to the family. She is now attending MLC and we are very happy to be a part of the school. Kayla attends Isaac Dickson Elementary, and just entered 4th grade. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my girls and our boxer, Bella. We love being outside. Over the
summer we took an amazing cross country road trip and drove over 5,000 miles during our three week journey. I loved every second of it! I really enjoy being around kids. Their curiosity makes me smile and I love teaching them new things. I'm looking forward to a great year at MLC!
Susie Jenson- Floater
I’ve been with MLC for the past 12 years. When I’m not greeting everyone at the door in the morning and helping students get settled, I’m helping children getting to and from various places and making sure their days are successful. I enjoy spending time with my grandkids and attending all of their sporting events.
